After the teams received the first proper launch of their new 2022 contenders, Leclerc finished the first day of a three-day test in Barcelona second in speed, one place ahead of his teammate Carlos Sains Jr.
FerrariCompetitors remember the potential of the Maranello team, thanks to additional development work that it was allowed to perform in accordance with the rules of F1 airports, and the early pace of the new F1-75 hints at good potential.
However, Leclerc remembered that the time at the beginning of testing means almost nothing – as he says, until no one will show his full hand.
Reflecting on his daytime runs, Manegas said: “It was the first time we were really able to squeeze into our new car and it was really good to get behind the wheel again.
“We completed all the tests we wanted and went smoothly through our full program, which is good for a new car. I look forward to getting back on the road tomorrow.
“Initial feelings are not bad, but today you should not admire the tables, because these are the first days, and they are still hiding their true form.
“It is not yet possible to draw a clear picture, so we need to stay focused and continue to work hard. We have been through a lot of laps, more than any other team today, and this is a positive thing for which we will develop. “

Science, who ran 73 laps, seven less than Leclerc, said the day highlighted the contrast between 2021 cars and the new generation of cars.
“We still have a lot of work to do, but today we can already feel some differences compared to last year, although in terms of habituation, I don’t think it will take too long,” he said.
“Sure, the last tenths will be hard to find, but it’s the most fun!
“In any case, this is not the goal here in Barcelona, because before the first race we still have additional tests. Good first day and I look forward to tomorrow ”.
