Frosty conditions; high winds to approach middle georgia early tomorrow – 41NBC News

MACON, Ga. (41NBC/WMGT) – A powerful cold front will bring rain to Middle Georgia tonight, followed by strong winds and bitter cold.

Before it gets really cold outside before the Christmas weekend, Middle Georgia will warm up a bit. Highs today will be in the mid to upper 50s, likely around midnight ahead of a cold front. However, we should see milder conditions throughout the day as temperatures will be in the low to mid 50s. The wind today is 5-10 meters per second. We probably won’t see any rain until the sun goes down, but showers will begin shortly after sunset in Middle Georgia. Thunderstorms are also possible.

The highest temperature is likely to be accompanied by showers moving in from the west and this is likely to be after midnight. Once this line of showers passes, temperatures will begin to drop sharply as skies clear and winds shift to the northwest. Temperatures will be in the mid to upper 20s and wind gusts will exceed 40 mph in Middle Georgia by sunrise tomorrow. Much of the region will likely experience a cold snap in the mid-teens.

The cold conditions will stick with us through the Christmas weekend before a slow and steady warming begins next week.

Forecast for 7 days on 12 22
