A man and woman were arrested in Pennsylvania after allegedly stealing holiday parades intended for garbage collectors, police said.

Shortly before 2 a.m. on Dec. 20, police in East Goshen were dispatched to a tree-lined residential road after report of a suspicious vehicleaccording to a police report.

The vehicle, which was seen driving slowly through the neighborhood, was located and stopped by police.

During the stop, officers observed “numerous envelopes with tape attached that read ‘Trash,’ gift cards and cash scattered throughout the interior of the vehicle,” according to police.

After an investigation, it was determined that a man and a woman stole holiday parades intended for paramedics under the cover of darkness, police said.

The man and woman, both from a nearby town, were arrested and taken to the Chester County Jail, police said. Their five charges include theft, criminal conspiracy and loitering or loitering at night.

A spokesperson for the Westtown-East Goshen Regional Police Department did not immediately respond to McClatchy News’ request for comment.

A 35-year-old woman posted bail and was released, and a 33-year-old man remains in prison after he failed to post bail, the Daily Voice reported. Their preliminary examination is scheduled for the end of January.
