New York gymnastics teacher fired and charged after viral video of student hitting wall
A New York City gym teacher has been fired and charged with harassing and threatening a child’s well-being after he was spotted on a viral video as a student hits a wall. The teacher, identified as 58-year-old Colin McNally, was a physiological scientist. Ed. teacher and coach for the Boys Varsity Tennis team at Benjamin N. Cardoso High School in Bayside, Queens, New York.
On Wednesday (February 16th), McNally was arrested on school grounds after throwing a 14-year-old student into a wall. Witnesses say the victim was playing basketball when McNally snatched the ball from him (for unknown reasons) and started walking with the ball to the director’s office. The teenager followed him, asked to return the ball, but the situation quickly worsened after he tried to reach for the ball, forcing McNally to grab the boy by the shirt, hit him against the wall and throw him to the ground.
In the complaint, McNally admitted “I pressed the child against the wall and then pushed him to the ground.” Fortunately, the teenager left without physical injuries; however the education department and people everywhere are stunned. Health Ministry spokesman Nathaniel Steer says “These are incredibly disturbing allegations, and Mr McNally was immediately removed from the classroom away from the students, pending the outcome of the investigation.” Following his statement, it was confirmed that McNally had been fired from the school and charged with the aforementioned charges.
