So let’s drop the gate and think about what might be in Texas on Saturday.

1. Eli Tomak is the king of the triple crown, so he is a great choice in Arlington. Tomak has nailed the “Triple Crown” format and he is in a state. Yes, he was a P6 in Minneapolis after a collision with teammate Dylan Ferandis, and the two were buried in a pack. Prior to that, Tomak either won or took second place in the previous four rounds. Tomak won the Triple Crown at Glendale and he knows how to win them. He is the best guy to win in Arlington.

2. Jason Anderson has a series of victories in two races at AT&T Stadium. In the last four races Anderson has gone 2-4-1-1 so he is on fire. P4 was at the previous Triple Crown, and Anderson will have to work hard to avoid trouble in all three major events in Arlington. So no matter how strong it was, I got it on P2.

3. Another rider who did great was Malcolm Stewart. Malcolm has more finishes in the Top 5 than any other rider. However, in 2022 he was on the podium only once, although in the standings is P3. The good news for Stewart is that his podium has come to the Glendale Triple Crown. He doesn’t have the speed of Tomak and Anderson, but he does have consistency. Stewart is a solid choice for P3.

4. Choosing P4 and P5 is quite harder than filling the podium. Ken Rotzen made his way to the top 5 in the last Triple Crown race, but this is one of two finishes in the top 5 this year – it’s hard to believe, but so was his year. Marvin Moskvin has resumed his career by making two consecutive top 5 attractions in Arlington. However, Moskvin was a dim P7 on the Glendale Triple Crown, just behind Justin Barcia. After three P8s in a row, Cooper Webb took P2 in Minneapolis – he is far from sure of the top 5. Finally, we have Chase Sexton, who is on a concussion report after a nasty crash on the penultimate lap in Minneapolis – he may or may not line up at AT&T Stadium. It’s five riders in two places, and I didn’t even mention the tough but fast Dylan Ferandis.

5. Justin Barcia and Marvin Moskvin looked good two races in a row, so I think they will be in the top 5. Both riders have P3 and P5 in the last two races. I’m going with Barça for P4 and Marvin for P5, as Barça were one position ahead of Maskin in the Glendale Triple Crown.

6. If Chase Sexton is healthy and qualifies Saturday afternoon, consider him in position P4. That would move Barça to the P5 and Maskin from the top 5. It will be difficult to judge Sexton’s condition until we see how he rides, although we know that he will not ride much this week – that’s enough not to consider him a place on the podium.

7. The unlucky P13 is a wild card at the Arlington Triple Crown, and it’s always hard to predict a finish that will be so far-fetched. Max Ansty, Justin Brighton, Vince Freese, Brandon Hartranft, Shane McElrat and Dean Wilson are smart choices for the desired Wild Card venue. My first choice would be Max Ensti, but he dropped out indefinitely after a serious injury at a major event in Minneapolis – we’re talking about heart damage, lung collapse and rib fractures. Hartranft is always two steps away from P13; he ended up there in Minneapolis, so I’ll go with him and cross my fingers. Oh, and if you missed it, Aaron Plessinger dropped out before the end of the Supercross season with a broken arm in a training accident.

8. I’m only in the top 40 percent of RMFantasySX.com players, so you should probably listen to me. One can confidently review my analysis and comments and then make your own choice. It was a difficult year for everyone. Braap1996 leads among 100,000 players with 436 points – a total of 62 out of a possible 133 each week.
