Michigan basketball players are returning home to face a tough Illinois team to recover from a terrible defeat by Penn State. Let’s be brave.
Winning the Big Ten is not easy – just ask these Spartans.
The most consistently inconsistent team in the conference will take to the court on Saturday afternoon, facing Illinois No. 12 with one of the top spots in the standings on the line. Michigan basketball needs a strong performance after falling to Penn State, and leaders will have to step up.
The Spartans are 18-7 in the season and 9-5 in the conference game, and surprisingly, that’s still enough for a place in the top five. It’s time to improve it against Ilyina.
Let’s be brave.
3. Marcus Bingham keeps Kofi under control
This may sound a little ridiculous, but I think Marcus Bingham Jr. will cope with the challenge of confronting Kofi Cockburn, and I think he will actually stay out of trouble.
Kofi is a big dude who uses his size to dominate the top ten, but not often does he encounter guys with Bingham length. This will cause some problems and it will lead to one of the best defensive outings for the older big man.
A few years ago, when Illinois came to Breslin and Kofi was only a freshman, Bingham actually blocked the big man from Illinois from the bench, finishing with 12 rebounds and 5 blocks.
He can do it.
And he will. He will finish with 10 points, eight rebounds and three blocks as his length will cause big problems for Kofi.
