The officer was pulled over by a hit-and-run driver during the traffic stop, Florida State Police said.
According to the Orlando Police Department, an officer riding a bicycle pulled over the driver around 11:30 a.m. on Nov. 16.
According to a statement from a police spokesperson, the driver was outside the vehicle when “a fight broke out.”
The driver then got into the car and began to flee the scene, but the officer grabbed onto the vehicle and was dragged, the report said.
“The driver lost control of the vehicle carrying the officer and crashed into a tree,” the report said.
Officers who arrived at the scene chased the driver and arrested them.
Police did not release the driver’s name or specify what charges he is facing.
Both the driver and the officer were taken to the hospital with minor injuries.
