Aiken County, South Carolina (WJBF) – The Aiken County Coroner’s Office is investigating the death of a man in North Augusta.

According to Aiken County Coroner, 20-year-old Taiz J. Minter jumped off a boat that landed in Beck Park in North Augusta, South Carolina, into the Savannah River at about 10:30 p.m., Thursday, Feb. 17.

Authorities say after Minter was unable to surface, the North Augusta Department of Public Safety and the South Carolina Department of Natural Resources initiated a search for the victim; due to bad weather the search was stopped and resumed this morning.

According to officers who were at the scene, DNR divers found Minter about two hundred meters from the landing of the boat on Friday afternoon at about 15:15

Aiken County Coroner Daryl M. Ables says an autopsy will take place Monday in Newbury, South Carolina.

Authorities say the Aiken County Coroner and the North Augusta Public Security Department are continuing the investigation.
