Chet Hanks reflects on the growing up of the child of famous parents Tom Hanks and Rita Wilson.
In a video titled “The truth about how Hanks grew up” Posting on Hanks Jr.’s YouTube channel, he talked about his upbringing in an environment of wealth and fame.
“My experience was even more challenging because, apart from the fact that fame is already toxic, I wasn’t even famous,” Hanks said.
According to him, his peers perceived him as “arrogant, powerful and corrupt” and “did not have a strong male role model” to give him the impression that “they just envy you.”
Hanks, 31, and his brother Truman, 26, are the sons of Oscar winner and his wife Wilson. The eldest Hanks also has a son, Colin Hanks, 44, and a daughter, Elizabeth Hanks, 39, from a previous marriage to Samantha Lewis.
Chet Hanks said people are biased.
“It was extremely difficult to break down their walls,” he shared. “So I faced a lot of contempt, a lot of hostility and negativity because everyone was just willing to hate my guts.”
