Chevrolet has rebooted and updated the introduction to the HBO show “The Sopranos” for unexpectedly advertising its new Silverado electric pickup for the Super Bowl.
The 60-second commercial titled “New Generation” aired in the first quarter of the game without General Motors the brand pre-releases any previews or teasers, a practice that has become commonplace for Super Bowl advertisers.
The commercial has many of the same shots as in the original introduction, but instead of Tony Soprano, played by James Gandalfini, who drives a 1999 Chevrolet Suburban SUV, the video features the daughter of Mafia boss Maudou, played by Jamie Lynn Siegler. Chevrolet Silverado EV 2024.
“It’s a different way of showcasing the Sopranos and Chevrolet, and it was a pleasure to do,” said Steve Mayoras, vice president of marketing for Chevrolet. “If you have a truck that’s so important to our business, there’s really no other logical platform for that.”
The plot features the original themed song from the British band Alabama 3’s “Woke Up This Morning”. all-electric Chevy Silverado. A brand new truck for a whole new generation. “
The commercial was directed by David Chase, creator and director of the show, with the help of Phil Abraham, the director of the original title “The Sopranos”. The hit show aired on HBO from 1999 to 2007.
Mayoras said the company did not want to tease the ads because the team “liked the idea of a big statement that could come out of nowhere.”
The last time Chevrolet appeared at the Super Cup was in 2015. This was another unexpected advertisement, because of which it seemed that the TV was turned off just before the game. The point advertised a Chevrolet Colorado pickup truck built into 4G LTE to help view the game in the event of a real power outage.
The reboot of The Sopranos is the second Super Cup ad for GM this year. The company earlier this week released a 60-second commercial before the game, where actor and comedian Mike Myers regained his role as Dr. Evil from the spy comedy trilogy “Austin Powers.”
