HAMMERVILLE, GA (WTXL) – Clinch Memorial Hospital announced Friday a partnership with South Georgia Medical Center, where SGMC will act as an affiliate of the CMH network from March 1.
The SGMC said in a release that the partnership aims to improve the quality and care of patients in Clinch County.
“We are excited to move forward in providing quality health care close to home,” said Angela Amons, CMH’s CEO. “This accession is a logical and strategic step to ensure that access to local, high-quality care continues and grows in Clinch County for years to come.”
CMH and SGMC will remain independent organizations, the release said. This accession is neither an acquisition nor a merger, as staff and physicians will continue to work in their retrospective hospitals.
As a critical access hospital, CMH should have an affiliate network to transfer any patients who need care beyond its capabilities, SGMC reports.
The new partnership with SGMC will provide several benefits for Clinch Memorial, its physicians and patients. According to the release, CMH is already seeing an increase in calls for swivel bed services and accelerated connectivity to SGMC’s specialized centers.
