Cockroach Labs has announced the general availability of its serverless database, which can help teams accelerate software development cycles.
“We envision a world where your data-intensive applications easily and securely serve millions of customers anywhere on the planet, with exactly the power you need at that moment—all with a simple SQL API in the cloud,” said Nate Stewart, CIO product by Cockroach Labs. “Now that CockroachDB Serverless is publicly available, we’re one step closer to that vision. We’ve also released a new suite of migration tools and formed important partnerships to help customers with existing applications take full advantage of CockroachDB.”
Serverless database users can save time by automating management and maintenance. It also provides scalability and high availability, and can automatically handle spikes in demand without bottlenecks.
Other features include instant startup, CLI, PostgreSQL ORM and drivers, and non-downtime schema changes.
The new serverless database includes a free tier of up to 5 GB of storage and 250 million RU per month.
The company also released its CockroachDB Molt migration tool and integration with Vercel, HashiCorp Vault and Hashicorp Terraform.
