Collingwood’s Cavan star confirmed with short-term knee injury · The42

IRISH AFLW STAR Aishling Sheridan is “expected to be out for two to four weeks” with a knee injury, her club Collingwood has confirmed.

The Cavan native breathed a sigh of relief, sharing the good news that it was “just a minor setback” on Instagram last night, before the club confirmed the positive scan results in a statement this morning.

It read: “Aishling Sheridan picked up a knee injury against the Crows on Sunday and is out for the rest of the match. She is expected to be out for 2-4 weeks.”

“Positively, Collingwood forward Aishling Sheridan will be out for a month with a knee injury, after initial concerns it will be news for the rest of the season,” extensive article and injury list on AFLW official website added.

Many feared it might be an ACL blow, after Sheridan was forced after a tackle late in the second quarter against Adelaide.

The reigning Premiers won by five points but were without the services of Mayo’s Niamh Kelly, who dislocated her shoulder. Adelaide Head of Women’s Football Phil Harper providing an update on Monday.

“Niamh came off the ground early in the third quarter with a dislocated shoulder after a tackle and was out of the game,” he said. “She will undergo a scan and assessment in the coming days ahead of Sunday’s game against GWS.”

The AFLW website says she is expected to return in 1-3 weeks.

Meanwhile, Sinead Goldrick could play her first game of the season for Melbourne this weekend after battling a knee injury last month.

Grace Kelly has an Achilles flare as her St Kilda debut remains on ice, but clubmate Clara Fitzpatrick is set to return to the squad after missing last week for personal reasons.

And Rachel Cairns is out for an extended period after shoulder surgery.
