The MTV Video Music Awards – a night full of music, flashes of cameras and fans shouting about their favorite artist – began unsuccessfully when Conor McGregor and Machine Gun Kelly entered into a heated conversation on the red carpet before the show.
McGregor talked to ET behind the scenes and described the interaction as “absolutely nothing”.
“Nothing happened to me, I’m only fighting real fighters, people who are really fighting, you know what I mean,” he continued. “I certainly don’t fight with little vanilla rappers. I don’t even know this guy. I don’t know anything about him except that he’s from Megan Fox. “
Witness said ET that McGregor and MGK “exchanged a few words” and then McGregor rushed at the musician. MGK and Megan Fox then left the red carpet and threatened not to pose for photos. However, according to eyewitnesses, the couple returned as soon as McGregor left.
McGregor was seen all night walking with a cane because of a broken leg he received in his last fight. The MMA fighter later presented an award for Artist of the Year while Machine Gun Kelly performed his song “Papercuts” near the end of the show.
Aside from the fiery quarrel, the night was filled with stars performances featuring artists Doja Cat, Normani, Alicia Keys, Shawn Mendes, Chlöe and many more.
