News of the launch leaked early when the official Xbox Netherlands Twitter account posted (and later deleted) a tweet advertising the Cyberpunk 2077 Xbox Series X / S update as well as a free trial. Last month’s PlayStation Game Size, a notable Twitter account that has a history of information leaks found in backend network PlayStationshared new findings suggesting the game will be released in mid-February.
The launch of Cyberpunk 2077 on the PS5 and Xbox Series X / S has been long overdue. Its initial release was postponed several times before finally launching on December 20, and its next-generation launch was originally scheduled to come out late last year, but was postponed to early 2022.
Analysis: a lot needs to be proven
In these versions of the next generation Cyberpunk 2077 much depends. Since the game’s initial launch in 2020, game-disrupting bugs and persistent performance issues have deterred many from choosing a game on the console and ruined not only its perception among fans, but also much of the goodwill and reputation CD Projekt Red has earned thanks to development of the series “The Witcher”.
For many versions of Cyberpunk 2077 for PS5 and Xbox Series X give the opportunity to experience the ambitious game as intended. Error-free and using the latest hardware to eliminate all other gaps and performance glitches, the next generation of consoles may finally allow some gamers to see the game in all its glory.
The fact that a free trial is available on the Xbox Series X / S and PS5 suggests that CD Projekt Red is taking steps to improve the game’s image in the eyes of potential fans. Since many have completely written off the title, the free demo version could somehow show that this is no longer the broken RPG it was at launch, convincing them to give Cyberpunk a second chance.
Of course, if the next generation versions do not meet the expectations of players, the reputation of Cyberpunk 2077 is virtually closed. Few games are given a second chance to regain the affection of their audience. Hopefully CD Projekt Red has wisely used this opportunity.
