MACON, Ga. (41NBC/WMGT) – With spring upon us, allergy season has already begun in Georgia, and this year it’s even earlier than usual. Pine pollen, the most common allergen in the region, has begun to spread and, according to experts, will continue until June.
People can avoid allergy symptoms by using heavy pollen masks and nasal sprays, according to Dr. Plaksik of the Macon Allergy and Asthma Clinic. Dr. Plaxico also recommends regular use of preventative medications such as pills, sprays and inhalers to avoid sinus infections, bronchitis and asthma attacks.
“The most important thing is that you need to take your medication regularly now because it’s not going away anytime soon,” said Dr. Plaxico. “You just want to make sure you go ahead and use your preventative medicine, your pills, your sprays, your inhalers, so you don’t get sick from it, get a sinus infection, bronchitis, or a severe asthma attack and end up in the hospital.”
