BLUFTAN, SC (WSAV) – A former Burton high school teacher has been arrested for sexually exploiting a minor.

Tim Schaefer, a former social studies teacher at Bridges Preparatory School, is accused of uploading sexual images of children to the Internet.

The South Carolina Advocate General’s Task Force on Cybercrime (ICAC) has prompted the Beaufort County Sheriff’s Office to investigate and find that sexually explicit material for children was downloaded by Slate from an apartment in the 150th block of the Heritage Parkway in Blufton.

Schaefer was arrested for sexually exploiting a second-degree minor. Authorities say new charges may be filed.

Schaefer was released on $ 20,000 bail.

WSAV News 3 contacted Bridges Preparatory School, and officials confirmed that Slate has not worked at the school since November 2018.
