After testing in Barcelona in special camouflage colors, Alfa Romeo has now revealed its appearance for the 2022 season.
The Alfa Romeo F1 Orlen team continued to use the red and white colors of previous seasons, but this time was more liberal with its scarlet brush, and the car looks even better.
“I like it,” said Walter Botas of the new livery. “For me, it’s love at first sight. It’s a special feeling, but honestly, when I saw it for the first time, especially when you see it live, it’s really stunning and we’ll be very proud to present these colors this season.
“Of course, this is my first car in the Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen, which makes it special, and I’m looking forward to going to the start in Bahrain with it. Interestingly, we have no idea how the first race will go.
“Testing has helped us confirm our expectations as to where we are, the progress we have made with the car, but now we are approaching a point that really matters. Ever since I joined, I have seen so much motivation in this team: everyone is working hard, trying to work harder than others to be competitive, and this in turn gives me extra incentive when I’m in the cockpit. ”
Alfa Romeo has not had the smoothest time during the test with the reliability issues that teams face every three days, but the teams have a few weeks to try to solve them before the second test takes place in Bahrain and the season opens in a week.
At the launch of the livery, team leader Frederic Vasser said that despite the fact that “Barcelona” was difficult, he was “extremely confident” that the C42 is a car that can see Alfa Romeo moving up.
“It was a pretty challenging session we had to face [in Barcelona]”- said Vasser. “With the jump, then we had some mechanical problems, but now we have to think and focus on the next one, but we are trying to fix everything for Bahrain.
“The beginning of the season is always an exciting time in which we see the fruits of the work of hundreds of people over a long period of time. The C42 is a car we look forward to racing not only because it is the first we have built in this new cycle of regulations in which racing should be closer and more exciting, but also because we are confident that this car will help the team make a big step forward in front of the network. “
Heading into his first season as a Formula One driver and as the first Chinese racer, Zhou Guanyu is very much looking forward to going online.
“I’m totally filled with the season,” Zhou said. “And seeing the C42 in the livery in which I will be racing definitely makes it real. We are at the beginning of a new era, with new cars and new rules, and this creates an opportunity for all teams to make progress as we all start from scratch.
“Everyone at Alfa Romeo F1 Team Orlen has been incredibly helpful since I joined, and seeing all the hard work, commitment and motivation of everyone in Hinville and on the track fills me with pride and excitement. I can’t wait to be online with this car and work with my team to bring the results we are aiming for together ”.
In his third year as a reserve Alfa Romeo driver Robert Kubica, who admired the Polish white and red color of the car, but said that “it looks good, you need to drive even better.”
With the unknown new rules, the Pole knows that his work on developing the car will be even more important than in previous years, and looks forward to helping the team improve.
“The beginning of a new season is always a time when expectations, hopes and plans come together,” Kubica continued. “This year the rates are even higher, because with the new rules we are making a small leap into the unknown. An incredible amount of work has been done on this car, the C42, and I look forward to what the team can achieve with it.
“In my role, I try to help as much as possible in the development of this car: we know how much improvement there is at this stage of the car’s life, and we know that every update can make a difference, so the work we do on base will have crucial to achieving results along the way ”.
