Four changes in Ireland’s U20 team named in connection with Italy’s “difficult” test in Cork

IRELAND U20 head coach Richie Murphy has announced his choice for tomorrow’s match with Italy at Musgrave Park [KO 8.00pm, Virgin Media Two].

The hosts will strive for three wins out of three in this campaign of six nations, while the Italians will arrive in Cork, encouraged by the victory over England.

Murphy chose the same group with which two weeks ago began a slight victory in France, and as captain again became a flanker Ruben Crosers.

All four personnel adjustments were made to the back line, and Matthew Devine returned to the fray to replace Ethan Cafflan.

Chey Mullins and Fion Gibbons are named on the wings, while Aitzol King and Shane Mellon appear, and Jude Postletwaite takes Daniel Hawkshaw’s place in the center.

“We had another good week of training in preparation for what we know will be a difficult task,” Murphy said. “Italy won a brilliant victory over England last time-out, and of course this week we will need to step it up in front of our home fans.

“The atmosphere in Musgrave Park at the match against Wales was memorable and it pushed the whole band to the fact that behind this shoulders is this vocal and strong support at home. We are excited to return to Cork on Friday night and hopefully expand our performances to date. ”
