Gainesville’s teenager is recognized as the youth of the year 2022

Jaya Stringer, a Gainesville High School student with honors and a honors degree, was named Youth of the Year 2022 for Lanier Boys and Girls Clubs.

Stringer received a $ 2,500 scholarship from the Dwayne Hinshaw Scholarship Fund. She will also be vying for the Youth of the Year in Georgia title and a $ 2,500 scholarship from America’s Boys and Girls Clubs.

The Youth of the Year Award is organized by the local Clipper Petroleum Foundation. The award is presented to Lanier, a member of the boys ‘and girls’ clubs, who demonstrates “leadership, service, academic success and dedication to a healthy lifestyle,” the press release said.

Stringer has been a member of Lanier’s boys and girls clubs since the age of eight. Her extracurricular activities include working as a Keystone Club secretary, volunteering at Meals On Wheels and working ten hours each week at a local shelter for beaten and abused women.

She is passionate about mental health awareness and previously plans to study at Fort Valley State University. She wants to make a career as a social worker.

If Stringer is named Youth of the Year in Georgia, she will be vying for the South East Region Youth of the Year title and an additional $ 20,000 scholarship.

Six finalists will go to the National Youth of the Year event in Los Angeles in September 2022 to compete for the title of “National Youth of the Year of America for Boys and Girls”. The National Youth of the Year will receive an additional scholarship of $ 50,000 and a new Toyota Corolla.
