Gavin Gwyn vs. Luke Willis

York Hall in London, England – April 15, 2022

Gavin Gwyn and Luke Willis April 15 at London’s York Hall will compete for the titles of champions of Great Britain and the Commonwealth in lightweight in the #MTKFightNight.

The event will be broadcast live in the US on ESPN + in conjunction with Top Rank, as well as worldwide on IFL, when Commonwealth champion Gwyn (14-2, 3 KOs) will meet undefeated Willis (11-0, 1 KO) with a vacancy. the UK title is also up for election.

Welsh fighter Gwyn spent a successful 12 months, defeating Sean McComb with a break in the seventh round at MTK Fight Night back in February 2021, before a successful first defense against Jack O’Keefe in November.

Now he turns his attention to Willis of Liverpool, who in his last game defeated Ryan Charlton in a grand duel at the M&S Bank Arena in October.

Gwyn said: “I am very excited about this. I’ve been training all Christmas to stay fit and also participate in sparring, so can’t wait. I don’t really know much about Luke Willis, he’s just southern and invincible. I really enjoy boxing lions, so that’s great for me.

“I’ve boxed a lot of the best guys and fought at a much higher level than Willis, but he’s invincible and I’ve been in his place before. I know this will reveal the best in it, so I prepared for the best version of it.

“The British title is the title I’ve wanted since the transfer, and it would be a dream to win it and especially in fashion.”

Willis said: “I’m really looking forward to it. It’s been a long time and I’m ready for that. I’ve seen Gwyn a few times and he’s tall, tough and playful, but he can be defeated, so nothing worries me.

“He has gained a bit of momentum and has a lot of confidence after his last few fights, so my job is to lose that confidence that I will.

“For me, it would be all to win these titles. All I’ve ever dreamed of is a Lonsdale belt. I have a chance to get it now and I have no plans to let it go. ”

MTK World Promoter Lee Ethan added: “We are excited to return to York Hall with another action night MTK Fight Night, the main theme of which was this huge battle between Gavin Gwyn and Luke Willis.

“Gavin has been in fantastic form over the last year, winning big victories over Sean McComb and Jack O’Keefe. He is facing another ordeal against a dangerous undefeated fighter in Luke Willis, and it is a pleasure to work with his manager Tony Bellew to make this fight happen.

“This will be another great MTK Fight Night map full of an intriguing 50-50 fights, so we can’t wait to get back to London on April 15.”

Additional news about the event, including additions to the card, will be announced in the coming days and weeks.
