Although the last two years have certainly had their problems, we have seen with our own eyes how Georgian enterprises have turned and adapted to not only stay afloat but also grow. In 2020, we saw many Georgian companies enter new markets, strengthen existing global relations and increase international sales.
The Georgia Department of Economic DevelopmentThe international trade group had the opportunity to draw attention to 17 Georgian companies by recognizing them GLOBE Awards 2021 to expand sales to new international markets. In 2020, the winners of the eighth annual GLOBE Award exported their products and services to 50 different countries.
The state award program also emphasizes that more than 80% of this year’s winners are small businesses with less than 100 employees. Several other highlights of the 2021 winners include three recognized exporters of the year for adapting during the global pandemic and two companies that have received five consecutive GLOBE awards from Georgia. The three GLOBE winners were the first exporters in 2020.
The international trade team demonstrated Exporter of the Year in Georgia 2021 for their resilience during a global pandemic.
Based on Alpharet Inno Concepts Inc. (dba CocoaTown) was named Exporter of the Year for a small company. The Empowering Chocopreneurs webinar series, which employs only nine people, has allowed them to move on to further customer service.
During the series, not only their international interaction grew, but also their sales for the year. CocoaTown has also entered five new export markets despite the pandemic problem. Exporter of the Year for a medium sized company Quantum Aviation Solutions, Inc.. in Duluth. Quantum Aviation, which employs 30 people, has been able to close deals in new international markets by changing its distribution model to maintain existing services remotely. By providing its customers with global IT solutions, CentricsIT has used built-in adaptation capabilities to help customers cope with situations that have been complicated by the pandemic.

The focus continues to shine like an inauguration Global Grit Award was presented to two companies for five consecutive GLOBE awards from the state of Georgia: Hydro Dynamics, Inc. in Rome, and Richland Distilling Company in Richland. Hydro Dynamics switched to exports in 2008, and, now rooting on six continents, they account for 20 percent of their current sales in international markets. The Richland Distilling Company has received national and international recognition for its award-winning Richland rum in Georgia. While 2020 has caused uncertainty for many Georgian companies – three GLOBE Award winners have exported for the first time. It is important to note that this is an incredible achievement for any company during a global pandemic Emrgy, Inc. in Atlanta, Stormwater systems in Cleveland, and United Spirit of America in the city of Peachtree – all the small businesses that first became global in these exceptional times.
The winners of the GLOBE Award in Georgia 2021 not only hire hard-working Georgians across the state, but they all have a serious impact on the economy of our state. More than 70 percent of the winners worked with GDEcD International Trade Team on entering and expanding into new markets for at least three consecutive years. In 2020, the state’s international trade team also received the award E Star Presidential Award for Export Services. Georgia is the first organization in the country to receive the fourth “E” award, which is the highest award achieved by service providers for American exporters. Although Georgia’s international trade team has been recognized as a consistent “significant contributor to increased U.S. exports,” the GLOBE Awards, starting in 2014, also drew attention to Georgian companies supporting the effort, constantly looking for new international markets. .
As Georgia’s international trade group continues to work closely with many local businesses to address today’s challenges and plan for the future, among GLOBE 2021 award winners several common themes include flexibility, logistics issues, transparency and relationship building, among others.
