GitLens 12 is released with VS Code support for the web

Git tool provider GitKraken has launched GitLens 12 with support for Visual Studio Code for the Internet and github.dev. GitLens is a Git extension that can be used in a variety of IDEs, and according to the company, is the most downloaded Git extension for Visual Studio Code.

In addition, premium features such as Worktrees and Visual File History are now available through the GitLens Free + and Pro plans.

“Bringing GitLens capabilities to the Internet is an incredible milestone and presents compelling new opportunities for developers. Now everyone can access GitLens’ extensive information to better understand why, when and by whom, directly from their browser, ”said Eric Amodio, CTO and CEO of GitKraken.

GitLens 12 provides support for Visual Studio Code for the Internet, giving users the ability to edit GitHub repositories in VS Code in a web browser, desktop or tablet, no installation required.

The release also features updated GitLens plans. The free plan provides access to premium features in public repositories, while the Pro plan is a paid subscription that provides access to these features in both private and public repositories, as well as priority support and additional benefits.

“Today’s launch is a big milestone – for GitLens users, the product and our company,” said Matt Johnston, CEO of GitKraken. “It’s not just a major release for all GitLens users, it’s a first step towards creating premium features and enterprise integration that will lead to even more powerful GitLens in the future.”
