Indiana carjacking suspects arrested in Monroe County chase – 41NBC News

Teenagers are suspected in a series of car thefts in Shelbyville, Indiana.

FORSYTH, Ga. (41NBC/WMGT) – Monroe County deputies tracked down two carjacking suspects after a chase along Interstate 75.

On Tuesday night, the cameras helped investigators find a stolen Honda Civic with Indiana license plates in a parking lot near the Johnsonville Road exit off I-75.

Monroe County Deputies arrived on scene and attempted to immobilize the vehicle. The driver was able to get around the deputy and get onto southbound I-75. The driver then led deputies on an eight-mile car chase that included crashing the stolen vehicle into another.

A Monroe County deputy was able to stop the chase by performing a precision immobilization technique (PIT maneuver). Two suspects fled the scene of the accident, but were caught and arrested.

The driver of the stolen vehicle has been identified as Ethan Whaley, 18, of Rushville, Indiana. The passenger was identified as Tony Bridges, 19, of Shelbyville, Indiana. Both are suspects in a series of car thefts in Shelbyville, Indiana.

Ethan Whaley is charged with fleeing and attempting to elude, leaving the scene of an accident, obstructing law enforcement and multiple traffic violations.

Tony Bridges is currently charged with obstructing law enforcement.
