James Lowe and Jimmy O’Brien have called up six nations to the Irish national team

LENSTER DUET James Lowe and Jimmy O’Brien were called up to the Irish national team of six nations ahead of Sunday’s third-round bout with Italy in Dublin.

Lowe made an impressive comeback after a hamstring injury from the bench for Leinster during their win over the Ospreys at RDS on Saturday, scoring a delightful long-range attempt at the first touch.

The 29-year-old has been ruled out of the first two rounds of six nations due to injury, but he has highlighted his fitness in front of Irish boss Andy Farrell with his excellent performance over the weekend.

Lowe’s nine-time match, which was remarkable during the November trials, will immediately return to the fight for a place in the Irish national team, although McHansen of Connacht performed well on the left flank in his absence in six nations.

Meanwhile, the 25-year-old from Kildare O’Brien has received his first official call-up to Ireland’s senior national team.

The versatile man from Leinster can play as a full-back, on the flank or in the center and has consistently been a great performer for his province. Ireland’s former international under-20 coach O’Brien went through Naas RFC and Newbridge College to break into the professional game.

Farrell also welcomed 14 players who were released to their provinces last week to camp in Ireland before the game in Italy.

Jack Carty and Dave Heffern from Connacht, Ryan Byrd from Leinster, Kian Healy and Jordan Larmour, Craig Casey from Munster, Gavin Coombs and Dave Kilcoin and Robert Balukun from Ulster, James Hume, Tom Hove, Michael Lowry and all return.

The national team of Ireland:

Props: Andrew Porter, Keen Healy, Dave Kilcoin

Prostitutes: Dan Sheehan, Rob Herring, Dave Heffernan

Tight props: Tadgh Ferlong, Finley Bilham, Tom O’Toole

Second rows: Tadhg Byrne, Ian Henderson, James Ryan, Kieran Treadwell, Ryan Baird

Rear rows: Jack Conan, Caelan Doris, Josh van der Flier, Peter O’Mahony, Nick Timony, Gavin Coombs

Scrum halves: Jamison Gibson Park, Connor Murray, Craig Casey

C-halves: Johnny Sexton (Captain), Joe Carberry, Jack Carty

Centers: Bundy Aki, Robbie Henshaw, Harry Ringrose, James Hume

Back threes: Hugo Keenan, Andrew Conway, Robert Balukun, Jordan Larmoor, McHansen, Mike Lowry, James Lowe, Jimmy O’Brien.
