Melissa Benoit is approaching the deal for the lead role in the movie “Girls on the Bus” on HBO Max

Melissa Benoit may soon return to Berlanti’s poem.

Variety Confirmed with sources that Benoit is in talks to take off the lead role in the series “Girls on the Bus” on HBO Max, whose executive producer is Greg Berlanti. Berlanti was previously the executive producer of the CW series “Supergirl”, in which Benoit played the lead role.

Representatives of HBO Max and Warner Bros. Television declined to comment.

It became known on Thursday “Girls on the Bus” received an order for the series on HBO Max after it was previously created on The CW and Netflix. The series is inspired by a chapter of Amy Chozik’s book “The Pursuit of Hillary”. The series is described as a comedy drama with characters, which tells the story of four journalists who follow every step of the parade of presidential candidates with flaws, finding on this path friendship, love and scandal.

Julie Pleck and Chozik are the authors and executive producers of the series. Berlanti, Sarah Schechter and David Madden are executive producers through Berlanti Productions. The producer will be Warner Bros. Television, and the studio is now a joint deal with Berlanti Productions.

Benoist is represented by UTA, Anonymous Content and Frankfurt Kurnit.

Still ahead…
