FERRAN TORES scored a penalty to save Barcelona’s 1-1 home draw against Napoli in the first Europa League play-off match on Thursday.
Peter Zelinsky opened the scoring for the Italians after 29 minutes in Spain, but Torres equalized just over an hour from the point after a game by Juan Jesus.
The draw allows both teams to reach the 1/8 finals of the second level European club competition with a meeting in Italy next week.
“They came into our zone once or twice and scored a goal, we had a lot of chances,” said Barcelona captain Gerard Pique.
“It feels good, the result is not very good. Everything remains open. It was a great match against a high-level opponent.
“The result is not satisfactory, I would like to have a bigger advantage in the return match.”
Barcelona is playing in the Europa League for the first time in 18 years after being eliminated from the Champions League in the group stage.
Havana Casey is joined by Bernard Jackman and Murray Kinsella to discuss South Africa’s prospect of replacing Italy in six nations and reflect on Ireland’s performance in Paris before taking a look at the URC’s action this weekend.
