New Mexico schools show support for victims of recent tragedies

NEW MEXICO (KRQE) – Many children in New Mexico are hurting right now after a series of tragedies involving their classmates, but are doing what they can to support each other. Many are showing their support for the city of Dexter this week after the crash one football player died and severely wounded another.

Members of the Roswell High School volleyball team wore Dexter shirts as they battled the Wildcats to show their support. The Kapitan girls made a similar gesture during a recent match by hugging the opposing team. Even middle schoolers are showing support by wearing blue ribbons for their rival Dexters, with Roswell Elementary putting a D on their field to show their support.

Support also comes from Organ Mountain, which has suffered its own losses since death of football captain Abraham Romero. At the beginning of this week, a high school student from Taos was stabbed in what appears to be a random training attack. According to the latest information, his condition is stable. Many neighboring schools also supported this student.
