The biggest boxing platforms are usually reserved for its biggest stars, headliners that bring in millions of ticket sales, pay-per-view purchases and social media clicks.
For the promising fighter who has yet to break through this glass ceiling, the long Showtime series, ShoBox: The New Generation, is the next best thing to success in one day.
Since its founding in 2001, The New Generation has evolved into a major training ground for boxing for better prospects on their path to fame. The concept of the show, led by ShoBox executive producer Gordon Hall, was to meet unknown prospects in intensifying the fights in front of a national audience, thus offering these fighters the opportunity to showcase their talents, allowing fans the opportunity to follow them throughout their careers.
The formula works – more than 75 ShoBox fighters became world champions, many of whom got a big break at The New Generation.
Invincible Worcester, Massachusetts, lightweight Jaimane Ortiz (14-0-1, 8 KOs) could be next on this list. Tomorrow night Orlando Ortiz will debut in the long-awaited ShoBox: The New Generation at Caribe Royale in the 10-round main event against Philadelphia. Nahir Albright (14-1, 7 KOs) for a vacant NABF title of £ 135. The broadcast starts at 9pm ET.

The stakes are incredible for many reasons; first, the opportunity to fight – and win – on ShoBox proved useful for a large number of young fighters. In addition, there is the appeal of the NABF title, which, thanks to its affiliation with the WBC, gives the winner an automatic place in the world rankings, a great way to speed up the path to the world champion.
An amateur who participated in the Olympic trials in the US before making his professional debut in 2016, Ortiz understands the pressures and has successfully passed all the trials in his young career. Led by promoter Jimmy Birchfield Sr. and CES Boxing, Ortiz diligently climbed the ladder with each fight more important than the previous one. His schedule is second to none:

Ortiz still has little to do, but tomorrow night’s victory and the NABF title immediately takes into account the entire light division. In truth, this is a great time to be a beginner at 135 pounds, and Ortiz has made it clear that his goal is to fight for one of the coveted world titles in his weight class by the end of 2022.
There are no specific fighters on his radar, but Ortiz is familiar to everyone, be it Devin Haney, Gervonta Davis or George Cambasos, all of whom thrive amid this unprecedented easy renaissance. The department has not seen such depth since the days of Julio Cesar Chavez-Edwin Rosario-Pernell Whitaker-Ray Mancini in the mid-80s and early 90s.
Like many young fighters, Ortiz studies ropes in and out of the ring. In the six years of his career, he has a better understanding of the business side of the sport, which can often be just as grueling as beating between the ropes. After spending many years as a carpenter’s apprentice, Ortiz is now involved in real estate, trying his hand at the stock market and cryptocurrencies and investing in real estate, surrounding himself with the right team to ensure his financial success long after he finishes boxing.
However, this is a long-term investment. The short-term goal is to clean the house among the 135-kilogram ones. Who would dare to doubt it? Given his success at every turn, there is no reason that this serene but tough, light-hearted man may not become the next new candidate to join the current fraternity of rising stars in his weight class. Tomorrow night’s showdown of the main event will provide answers to many questions and possibly introduce the world audience to the next great boxing champion.
