ALBUQUERQUE, NM (KRQE) – PNM held a hot air balloon safety demonstration Wednesday morning. Balloon Fiesta is coming soon. The demonstration focused on what to do if a balloon gets caught on power lines.
PNM says touching an entangled balloon can be dangerous for people trying to help and for those inside the balloon’s nacelle. “Letting everyone know what the government can do and how it reacts when something goes wrong. We did this so that first responders are aware and the public can also be aware to stay away from these power lines,” PNM spokesman Eric Chavez said.
PNM advises anyone who sees an entangled balloon to stay away and call for help. If you see an entangled balloon, call 911 and PNM to report it.
