Queens unites when Ireland opens bid for Pinatar Cup with victory from behind

LOUISE AND LUCY Quinn scored goals when the Republic of Ireland Vera Pau opened her Pinatar Cup campaign with a 2-1 victory over Poland in the quarterfinals over Poland.

Fans of Girls In Green were disappointed, as there was no live broadcast on these shores, but the victory over the nation with a higher rating in La Manga certainly helped.

Ireland – 31st place in the world, the Poles – 30th – fell behind in the 49th minute after Pavlina Dudek scored a penalty.

A point kick was awarded for a handball game against Niam Fahi; The countryโ€™s newest centurion left with a stain on her notebook after marking her 100th international cap to captains.

Ordinary captain Katie McCabe was at the center of the return, giving a pass to both goals.

Lucy Quinn equalized in the 66th minute with a great left-footed shot after the Arsenal star played her. And Quinn’s teammate and namesake in Birmingham City, Louise, secured the victory after 10 minutes after McCabe’s canopy scored.

Now on Saturday Ireland will play with the winners of Hungary and Russia, who will meet tonight. [KO 7.30pm Irish time].
