HomeGeorgia & USAReminder: Russell Stover Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups

Reminder: Russell Stover Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups

Six lots of 2.4-ounce bags of Russell Stover Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups have been recalled after customers complained about a mistake that creates a dangerous food allergy risk.

[–>

Inside the bags, instead of individually wrapped peanut butter cups, there were individually wrapped Sugar Free Pecan Delights, which, predictably, contain pecan. What’s annoying to consumers who have taste buds ready for peanut butter cups can be a serious problem to those with a pecan allergy.

[–>

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to pecans run the risk a serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products,” the Russell Stover-written, FDA-posted recall notice says.

[–>

“An error by the firm’s 3rd party co-packing company resulted in individually-wrapped Sugar Free Pecan Delight products being placed in the outer packaging for Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cups,” the alert says. “The inner packaging correctly identifies the products as Sugar Free Pecan Delights and the physical Sugar Free Pecan Delight product appears distinct from the Sugar Free Peanut Butter Cup product.”
