Returns Home Service for Florida Agriculture Officer Killed in Crash in Nassau County

MIDDLEBURG, FL – Today, friends and family say goodbye to Florida Farmer James McWorter. The service begins at 11 a.m. at Middleburg’s First Baptist Church on Blanding Boulevard. He died in the line of duty a week ago in Nassau County.

According to the Florida Highway Patrol, McWarter tried to cross the lanes on I-95 last Saturday night from the middle access to get from one inspection station to another.

His car was hit by a pickup truck – he killed.

A family of four was in the truck – with minor and moderate injuries was taken to hospital.

McWarter has worked with the Office of Agricultural Law for two and a half years. This unit oversees items such as animals and products shipped to and from the state.

On Thursday McWarter’s body was escorted to the Jacksonville Memorial Gardens during the procession.

Officer McWarter leaves the bride and four children. He was 31 years old.
