I took The ultimate motorcycle Yamaha Ténéré 700 design bike on a mid-level trail and found it above me Tenner 700 skill level when dirt, rocky and cut. It was there that I twice tried the Klim Tactical Shirt armor – the hard way.
Both the fall and the fall were almost to zero miles per hour, but I still fell. The first fall I landed on my left elbow and felt nothing at skin level. Fall two was a chest plant a foot-tall stump. Even though I let out a grunt, my friends on the intercom knew I was okay, because they immediately heard that I was swearing that I needed to get Tenner off the dirty trail again.
I reset the Ténéré 700 two more times in a row. The Poron XRD armor and Klimatek fabric design worked as intended. Poron is Fr. Rogers Corporation a brand for industrial polyurethane products, while Klimatek is a patented Klimate dehumidifying feature.
According to Klim, the tactical shirt “Klim” is an armored base layer designed for double sports and off-road. It is a low-profile, lightweight and flexible alternative to vests with stiff armor. As with adventure shoes, there is a trade-off between comfort and safety.
I can wear Klima’s tactical shirt all day and forget about it until the armor protects me. It is very comfortable, adjacent to the skin armored base layer. This is a fully breathable, antimicrobial long-sleeved shirt and Poron armor with open cells in all appropriate places. The thickness of the Poron XRD armor varies in thickness from half an inch to the chest and spine, about a third of an inch to the elbows and shoulders and about a quarter of an inch to the forearms and sides of the kidneys / ribs. Please note that this armor does not have CE certification.
There were many low-hanging branches on the highways that could not be avoided. My forearms, chest, and shoulders hit a few, and the slap didn’t go through the Poron Armor. When I mentally expected “oh”, the tactical shirt was “oh-less”. The sleeves have reinforced thumb holes to keep the armor in place as you slide on your elbows. They are also useful if you put your hands in a shirt, knitwear or jacket.
My height is 5 feet 10 “, 193 pounds, chest 43 inches. The size chart is perfect for my 43-inch chest. I chose the XL from 46 to 48 inches because I wanted more space for a warm winter undercoat. The whole shirt is breathable , and each Poron-armor blow has vents every quarter of an inch.
When I got hot from lifting weights fast, I unbuttoned my Klim Traverse jacket – I took off all my armor for the test – and the airflow to cool down was instantaneous and over. The glory of the breathability of this tactical shirt.
Since the Klim tactical shirt lies next to your skin, you will want to wash it just like any other underwear. I wore it a few times without washing and it still smells new because Polygyny antimicrobial technology that inhibits the growth of odor-causing bacteria. When it comes time to wash it, just throw it in the washing machine with cold water in gentle mode and then dry it in the washing machine on low.
I look forward to soaking it in a cool creek on a hot summer day and see how long it will provide evaporative cooling. Dry or wet, it has a cooling effect while driving on the Ténéré 700.
Upper body protection is essential when riding off-road, whether on a dirt bike, dual bike or ADV car. Thanks to a comfortable fit and efficient ventilation, the Klim tactical shirt is an excellent four-season armored base coat.
