SAVANNAH, Ga. (WSAV) – Those looking for electrifying entertainment Saturday in Savannah will not be disappointed.
Riverside Plant District there will be two live performances Circus Kaleidoscope along the river embankment. Both performances are free and open to the public from 7:30 to 8:00 p.m. and from 8:30 to 9:00 p.m.
Kaleidoscope Circus is an up-and-coming circus troupe based in Savannah that offers a wide variety of high-energy live performances, including aerial arts, fire twirling, stilt walking, partner acrobatics and more.
Saturday’s shows will feature five main acts: Fire Poi, Aerial Silks, Partner Acrobatics, Group Fire Fans and Aerial Lyra, as well as several smaller acts before and between shows.
“The troupe led by Hayley Thrash approached me about sharing their gymnastics/dance/circus act for a special premiere in Savannah and Plant Riverside,” said Scotty Henley, the company’s director of entertainment. JW Marriott Savannah Plant Riverside District.
He continued: “After watching several rehearsals and watching additional footage, I felt that their performance would be a bonus for our guests and visitors at Plant Riverside and jumped at the opportunity to be the first to make their Kaleidoscope Circus debut.
“They are skilled, athletic performers with exceptional timing and display, which is the recipe for a fantastic evening here on the Riverwalk.”
In 1912, the original site of Plant Riverside County was a power plant. It has since been renovated to preserve historic features such as twin chimneys and brick exterior, and repurposed with the addition of hotel rooms and mixed-use spaces.
Today it is located along the shoreline, and more than a quarter of a mile has been created on it. The surrounding area creates a new kind of energy for Savannah residents and visitors, bringing an electric experience to the riverfront once again.
