KAZA Olympian and gymnast Simona Byles has just added the groom to her list of titles. The 24-year-old girl tweeted on Tuesday that she “woke up the groom” by sharing photos from her engagement to Jonathan Owens.
“I can’t wait to spend with you forever and ever, you’re everything I’ve ever dreamed of and more! Let’s get married!” She tweeted. The photos show a shocked Byles as Owens falls to one knee in the gazebo.
The couple got engaged in Houston, Texas, where Byles grew up, and Owens, who plays in the NFL, plays for the Houston Texans.
Athletes began dating in 2020. Both posted about engagement on Instagram, and Byles said it’s “the easiest way.”
They celebrated their first anniversary when Byles competed in the Tokyo Olympics, and were unable to be together due to COVID-19 restrictions.
Byles withdrew from several Olympic competitions for mental health reasons, and Owens published about her “strength and courage” on Instagram, saying she inspires him more and more every day.
