The Harlequins have rewarded three coaches who helped inspire them to win the Premier League title last season as Nick Evans, Adam Jones and Jerry Flannery sign new and permanent contracts with the club.
Adam Jones (Scrum coach), Jerry Flannery (line and defense coach) and Nick Evans (attack and defense coach), who are 4th in the Premier League, hope to once again inspire the Harlequins to the Premier League. er-league.
A rare step in professional sports, contracts do not have a set expiration date. The trio joins Taba Mattson as a regular contributor to The Stoop.
Nick Evans continues his 14-year relationship with the club. In 2017, Evans switched from playing to coaching. As a player, Evans led Queens to their first-ever Premier League title in 2012 before helping them win as coach of Attacks and Spins last season.
Adam Jones is extending his seven-year stay at Stoop. Jones moved on as a player in 2015, and the following year moved on to team play and coaching. In 2018, the Welshman withdrew from the game in the 100 tests.
Former Ireland international Flannery has signed a new deal with the club, arriving ahead of the 2020/21 season to take on the role of line coach, taking on his current title of line coach and defense during Quinn’s spectacular victory in Gallagher’s Premier League last year.
Head coach Tabay Matson told the club’s website: “The coaching team did an amazing job last year with a fantastic team. It’s always interesting to come from outside and join a close-knit group – and that’s what they were. They are a high interest team.
“I really liked the fact that they are all completely different. They have different energies, they are all fantastic in their portfolio and they all compliment each other very well. For me, joining such a team was exciting. It’s fantastic that they all re-signed as a band.
“What Nick brings to the table is an analytical view. He’s gotten all this experience from gaming days, but now he manages and manages people like Marcus and Danny. We are happy to have it in the mix.
“He’s completely different from Jerry, who brings real intensity to the way he manages the lines and the defense. He’s a fantastic practitioner and I’m not sure that’s just his focus, but he’s a great storyteller and he charges a lot of energy a week.
“And, of course, the Bomb [Adam Jones], our Welshman. It’s a really eclectic group of nations, and it’s one of the things we love about the game, isn’t it?
“Our skirmishes often kept us in the games, so with his experience and the way he manages the skirmishes, he has been a key part of the success here so far.”
Commenting, Harlequins CEO Lori Delrimple said: “We are all pleased that three such dignitaries have signed new contracts with the club. Together with Billy Millard [Director of Rugby Performance] and Charlie Mulchron [Skills and Kicking Coach], Nick, Adam and Jerry led this team to one of the most incredible stories in Premier League history. Watching the return to the former DNA of the Harlequins, when the team joined the historical and famous style of play of the Club, we saw great activity and interaction not only of our fans, but the whole sports world.
“Along with 17 recent contract extensions with key players, we are all thrilled that Nick, Adam and Jerry are linking their future with us. By signing new and ongoing deals with our coaching team, working with Billy, Charlie and Taba, we have created a brilliant team to help our team grow, develop and achieve our ambitious goals.
