KATHLIN, GA (41NBC / WMGT) – Houston County 4th Service Commissioner Dan Purdue has announced he is stepping down from his current position to run for the 1st position chairman.
The seat is currently occupied by Chairman Tommy Stalnacker, who earlier this week announced his resignation at the end of the year.
Purdue made his statement at a news conference Thursday afternoon, and Chairman Stalnacker backed him to the spot.
We talked to Purdue about his plans in case he is elected chairman. He plans to support Robins Air Force Base and run the county on a larger scale.
“So far, people in the region are looking for role models in terms of economic development, communication, how we run the county,” he said. “I hope they start looking at Houston County, and I hope we can give them that example.”
The seat on the Post 4 commission will be filled through early elections in May.
