Cat owners can’t get enough of two pet names — and they’re now the most popular in the United States.
Online pet care resource Rover.com said it created the list after examining data shared by more than 1 million users on its site. The data was collected in September and October, marking the 10th year in a row.
“Bella was overshadowed by Luna as the most popular female name in 2022, making Luna the #1 name for both females and cats for the first time,” Rover.com said in a press release.
What other names are most often given to their cats? Rounding out the top five:
- Lily (female) and Milo (male)
- Bella (female) and Leo (male)
- Lucy (female) and Charlie (male)
- Nala (female) and Max (male)
In addition to the most common cat names in the country, Rover.com also identified those that were “trending.” The most popular cat name this year is Hela, while other names inspired by pop culture and food trends are gaining popularity across the country.
