Oppo has finally confirmed what we basically assumed: it is collaborating with the Hasselblad camera brand for the “next generation of the flagship OPPO Find X series” – this Oppo Find X5 then, isn’t it.
The company announced this in a press release, which also confirmed that the future phone will be released in “Q1 2022” – that is, January, February or March, so we do not have much time to wait.
No exact information on what this partnership actually means has been provided, other than that it will last for three years. The company has indeed stated that it will start by “improving the software for natural color adjustment” and then “improve the color calibration solution and meet the creation of a new benchmark of smartphone camera color performance”.
It’s basically all marketing talk, but it suggests that the focus is on software, not hardware.
This partnership with Hasselblad is no big surprise. Leaks tell us this will happenand OnePlus, with which Oppo merged in 2021 Hasselblad’s own partnership which probably paved the way for Oppo.
The OnePlus partnership began with OnePlus 9but it’s perennial, and it sounds that way OnePlus 10 Pro will reap the benefits much more. So the Find X5 can just advertise the Hasselblad brand, and we may have to wait until the Find X6 or X7 sees some major benefits.
We hope to find Find X5 soon – maybe in MWC 2022 at the end of February – and every time he appears, we will see what the partnership with Hasselblad has brought.
