JEFFERSONVILLE, Ga. (41NBC/WMGT) — Three men were arrested and booked into the Twiggs County Jail after more than 30 pounds of marijuana was found in a vehicle during a traffic stop Tuesday.
According to the Twiggs County Sheriff’s Office, deputies were conducting traffic enforcement on I-16 when they observed a Dodge Charger with illegal window tint blocking traffic. When the deputy approached the vehicle and began speaking with the three occupants, he smelled marijuana coming from the interior, which led to a search of the vehicle.
A search of the interior of the vehicle revealed loose marijuana and 2 large garbage bags between the back seat and the speaker in the trunk containing approximately 31 pounds of marijuana.
All three men were charged and booked into the Twiggs County Jail — two of whom had extensive criminal histories, including RICO drug-trafficking charges.
Sharif Golden, 22, was arrested and charged with multiple drug and traffic charges, including drug trafficking, drug possession, driving with a suspended license and more.
Johnny Harris, 23, was charged with drug trafficking.
Derrick Dupont, 23, was charged with permitting unauthorized driving and drug trafficking.
