Thunderstorms are possible in Middle Georgia on Thursday

We saw a few isolated showers in Middle Georgia this evening, but it turned out to be a nice, warm day.

Mostly cloudy overnight, with temperatures expected to be in the low 60s.

By tomorrow, a warm atmospheric front will contribute to an increase in humidity and moisture.

Not only that, but we will see shower activity move into our area from parts of North Georgia.

Although thunderstorms are possible, severe weather is unlikely.

Thursday will be mostly cloudy with a high in the 80s.

All eyes are now on Friday as severe storms are possible.

On Friday, the wind will be southerly with gusts of up to 35 meters per hour.

These gusty winds will even be outside of isolated thunderstorms, so a wind advisory may be issued.

In the afternoon on Friday, a cold atmospheric front will cross the territory of the country.

The atmosphere will have all the ingredients to see a possible day of severe weather with wind shear, instability and lift (front).

However, it is possible that we may see just a few isolated strong storms (which would be preferable), especially if some of the storms are early in the day.

The time for that, right now, looks like 12pm-7pm.
Q
Our main threats for any storms on Friday will be damaging wind gusts, tornadoes, heavy rain and frequent lightning.

Make sure you have multiple ways to receive severe weather alerts, especially as severe weather season approaches.
Hg
Colder and drier air will return to our areas after the passage of a cold front on Friday evening.

That will set the mood for a nice weekend with highs in the 70s and clear skies.

Dry weather over the weekend will change to wet weather for part of next week.

This will start on Monday evening and will continue until the middle of the week.

Looking ahead to next week, we are likely to see some big changes.

Highs will drop into the low 60s by the end of next week, so enjoy the warm weather while it’s here.
