Visual Concepts and 2K have released a brand new trailer for WWE 2K22, showcasing the long-awaited MYGM game mode.
The trailer, which you can watch below, gives an overview of the mode and some glimpses of its gameplay with voiceover Stephanie McMahon, WWE CEO and former CEO of Monday Night Raw and SmackDown.
As explained in the trailer, in MYGM mode, players will be able to get out of the wrestling ring in the shoes of the general manager. The game will give players a choice between choosing an existing general manager or creating their own with their own character designer. Managers to choose from include familiar names such as Sonia Devil, Adam Pierce, Shane McMahon and the most voiced in the trailer: Stephanie McMan.
As a general manager, players will be able to manage large aspects of their brand, such as picking balanced lists and managing their budget, as well as delving into the small details of each show. Players can even go so far as to interfere in the match. Mode is a difficult task, and to create a brand and get the highest marks will need to think carefully.
For those who want to learn even more about what MYGM mode has to offer, 2K also broadcasts a Ringside Report deep dive. The second entry in the ongoing video series offers a more in-depth look at what players can expect from MYGM mode, with insight and advice from members of the game’s development team, including creative director Linel Jinx and design director Alan Flores.
Analysis: Looks promising
The general manager mode was much loved by fans of the old WWE series games, but despite that, it disappeared for a few years. With WWE 2K22 it’s back, and from what we see here, it looks pretty promising.
The return of the mode that has been so in demand by fans is clearly part of 2K’s efforts to make sure WWE 2K22 “beats differently” and urges fans after the reaction to WWE 2K20 led to the cancellation of WWE 2K21.
“We hear you and we know you want more out of the franchise, so we apply what we’ve learned in the next WWE 2K simulation game with a new focus on quality and fun,” the publisher said at the time.
Of course, there are high hopes that WWE 2K22 will return to form for the series. We don’t have much time before we find out if this is the case, as the release date of WWE 2K22 is very close at the moment. The game will be released on March 11, 2022 PS5, Xbox Series X, Xbox Series S, PS4, Xbox One and PC.
