Yuki Tsunoda – “I want to improve my pace and consistency in the way I drive.”

Followed by start AT03 y “New era styleFor AlphaTauri the team will hope to continue from there an impressive season last year where they finished with the highest scores in Formula 1 to date with 142 points. One of the drivers who will strive to improve his season for beginners is Yuki Tsunoda, who expressed his thoughts on the new car at launch.

“It really looks great.” Yuki Tsunoda confirmed “Sure, we haven’t seen a real car on the track yet, but the new shape and design are really cool, and I think the livery suits it very well, and I hope everyone enjoys the launch video.”

Tsunoda will be able to test the AT03 for the first time in Barcelona next week, where he will be able to experience the new car, especially given the new regulatory changes that make the 2022 season more challenging and competitive than ever before for all drivers.

Asked how physically and mentally prepared Tsunoda is this year, he answered “I’m looking forward to going to the race again. I feel much better aware of what I need to do than a year ago, I know how to prepare to perform well.

«I know what my weaknesses are, I have all my last year’s experience that you can use and I’ve worked hard to be prepared. Last year, when something unexpected or unusual happened, I couldn’t adapt fast enough to handle the situation, so I struggled in many races.

«I finished last year with fourth place in Abu Dhabi, so I want to carry that momentum into this new season. I feel more pressure to perform now than last year, but it’s good pressure that’s the motivation for me when I’m training. ”

Tsunoda was able to score 32 points in his first season in Formula One with seven finishes in the top ten in 2021. As mentioned by the Japanese racer, his best race last season took place in Abu Dhabi on the final track of the year in fourth place.

He will hope that by the start of the 2022 campaign will develop a strong pace, which he has shown since late last year.

When asked about his goals in his second season at F1, Tsunoda replied: “I want to improve my pace and consistency in the way I drive. I know what to do to achieve this. If I can run the way I did in the last three or four races last year, that would be a good way to start. It will not be easy, but I am sure I will be able to achieve it. “

In 2021, Tsunoda had three unfinished finishes and finished out of points in 12 of 22 races, so he will strive to improve this for the second year in a sport we all know he is capable of.

Hopefully, if this year’s calendar goes according to plan, Tsunoda will be able to race for the first time in Suzuka in front of his home crowd in Formula One.

“I am very much looking forward to it. Riding a Suzuka will be special. I have always dreamed of driving in Formula 1 in front of Japanese fans, and it would be great to get there an extra special result. In the meantime. I just want to focus on achieving better overall performance than last year. I feel better prepared. ”
