More than 40 million people in the south United States facing difficult the weather with several tornado reported at night.
Parts Mississippi, Alabamaarkansas, Louisianaand Tennessee encountered at least 17 tornadoes, along with severe flooding and tennis-ball-sized hail, as warnings continued in Alabama into Wednesday morning.
Images and videos of the tornado’s aftermath showed damaged homes and downed trees, and reports of injuries began in states like Mississippi and Louisiana.
Strong winds downed power lines as more than five inches of rain fell in parts of the South in a matter of hours, leaving more than 50,000 customers in Mississippi and Alabama without power Wednesday morning, according to poweroutage.us.
Mississippi schools and universities have asked students to stay home as the weather worsens with severe thunderstorms, snow and rain.
The weather caused traffic disruptions in parts of the Upper Midwest as flash floods were issued.
Storm threats are expected to persist into early Wednesday morning. The storm system is forecast to move east later today.

On Tuesday, a tornado was confirmed in Mississippi, Alabama
The National Weather Service in Birmingham, Ala., confirmed via radar that a tornado touched down Tuesday southwest of Tallahassee, prompting the agency to issue a warning to residents to “evacuate immediately!”

Temperatures in Texas fluctuate widely after records set by Tuesday’s storm
Record highs were set in parts of Texas on Tuesday, and forecasters are blaming warmer-than-average temperatures for fueling in part a powerful storm system that has slammed into the southern United States.
However, the forecast swung the other way on Wednesday, with some parts of the state seeing temperatures drop by 40 degrees compared to the day before.
“The temperature roller coaster is not stopping for the next week. Record heat yesterday, winter cold today, warmed up on Friday, cold again over the weekend,” meteorologist Avery Tamaska tweeted.
In cities like Pampa and Canada, temperatures were almost 40 degrees cooler than the day before.

Twitter user Ryan Hearn shared the video on his personal account on Tuesday night, which showed dark ominous clouds that soon turned into a large, swirling tornado that swept across the screen.
“Just took an incredible drone video of the tornado SW of Bassfield Mississippi at about 5pm with a drone, it’s just a short clip but I’ll be releasing the full video tonight,” Mr Hearn wrote on Tuesday, sharing the clip severe weather.

Thousands of people were without power in Alabama and Mississippi
Strong winds downed power lines as more than five inches of rain fell over several hours in parts of the South, leaving more than 50,000 customers in Mississippi and Alabama without power Wednesday morning, according to poweroutage.us.
Alabama had 38,399 customers without power as of 7:30 a.m. local time, while Mississippi had more than 7,000 customers in the dark.
In Louisiana and Texas, which also experienced severe weather Tuesday night, 7,000 customers were without power.

At least seven to 10 Mississippi homes severely damaged after tornadoes hit the state
Homeowners in Mississippi began surveying their property late Tuesday night after at least two tornadoes touched down in Choctaw and Lowndes counties.
Video and photos from northeast Lowndes County show at least seven to 10 homes with extensive damage, and the roof of a fire station completely ripped off.

The National Weather Service continued to issue a tornado warning for Barbour County, Alabama, which it said will remain in effect until 6:45 a.m. China time.

Injuries were reported in Montgomery, Alabama
The Montgomery County Emergency Management Agency is reporting damage and injuries from the storm that swept through the area, but has not released the extent of the damage or the number of casualties.
According to the EMA, the damage was done to houses and manufactured homes.

Above-average temperatures contributed to Tuesday’s storm
The National Weather Service in Shreveport, Louisiana, said early Wednesday morning that part of what caused Tuesday’s severe weather could be attributed to warmer-than-average temperatures in the region.
In Shreveport, located in the northwest part of the state, the city recorded a high of 81 degrees Fahrenheit, while Tyler, Texas, recorded a high of 82 degrees.
Both broke the record of 80 degrees previously set in 1949.

Tornado warnings for parts of Alabama
Tornado warnings continued to be in place for parts of Alabama and Texas early in the morning as millions of southern residents sheltered in place for the night to escape the powerful storm that rolled through Tuesday into Wednesday.
The National Weather Service warned residents of Texasville and Bakerhill, Alabama, to take shelter as a warning was issued for the region, expected to last until 6:45 a.m. China time.
