Washington County to hold anti-violence rally – 41NBC News

So far the third event

A very important event will take place at the Gazebo in Washington County on Saturday afternoon.

This will be the latest in a series of Stop the Violence events to be held in Washington County. The event was started by Pastor Carl Williams as a partnership between several churches and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.

“After we had a double homicide a few months ago at what they called a Freaknik event, some pastors came up to me and said, you know, they think it’s time for them to get involved, and to quote Pastor Williams: ” It’s time to get the pastor out of the pulpit and into the streets. -Joel Cochran/Washington County Sheriff

And that’s what they did. The upcoming event will be the third in number… Initially, about ten churches participated in it, and now there are even more, and they unite everyone on religious and racial lines.

“A great man said that it’s important for people who are not the same to come together and have similarities, and I think that’s important” – Scott Ferguson/Contributing Pastor

The event will include prayer, several speakers and even some free gifts just in time for Christmas

The next Stop the Violence event will be held Saturday at 3:00 PM in the gazebo outside the Washington County Courthouse.
